£20,800 plus up to an extra £6000 per annum bonus – OTE £26,800

We are currently recruiting a talented and results driven Category Specialist to join our busy contact centre team. Working just Mon-Fri, with no weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To drive profitable sales growth by managing inbound and outbound contacts with our customers to promote Brakes products and services within specific categories
  • Add value to every customer contact, by proactively identifying, negotiating, and converting share of wallet opportunities
  • Meet and exceed revenue and margin targets as well as delivering high productivity in line with key performance metrics
  • Work collaboratively with the Category Team to fully utilise our product range and supplier base to realise opportunities
  • Maintain a detailed knowledge of key suppliers and competitor strategies and activities
  • Have expert knowledge of category range, recent trends, product availability and proactively support to reduce stock at risk
  • Share insights and recommendations from customers with the Category Team where gaps in our product range are identified
  • Utilise monthly promotions, seasonal sales activities, and marketing material to maximise category growth
  • Work in collaboration with Field Sales colleagues to nurture and retain customers and category spend
  • Build loyalty and lifetime value by proactively contacting customers to minimise churn and collate insights to inform category development
  • Reactivate customers where spend in specific categories has been lost to competitors
  • Always deliver exceptional customer service, drawing on all available resources
  • Capture accurate information on system and supporting tools (SAP, CRM)
  • To assist in the achievement of departmental KPIs
  • To meet and exceed quality targets in line with the Quality Framework
  • Maintaining knowledge of category and product range and developments
  • Develop knowledge of trends in market aligned to category focus

Required skills and competencies:

  • Outstanding phone-based selling skills (both cold calling and prospect development) with the ability to build rapport with ease
  • Previous sales experience within foodservice or a real ‘foodie’ who can relate to customers’ needs
  • An ability to pro-actively manage a broad pipeline of work
  • Able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Tenacious, resilient and confident person with strong negotiation skills
  • Professional, credible and comfortable building strong, working relationships with key stakeholders around the business and within customer accounts
  • Motivated by results, with a proven track record of meeting/beating targets you must thrive on a challenge and have a determination to succeed
  • Excellent literacy and communication skills – phone and email
  • Previous experience in a structured sales or telesales environment preferred
  • Results orientated, successfully delivering against targets in a competitive marketplace
  • Proven ability to work in a KPI focused, target driven environment
